\/\/\/THE RAT GRAVEYARD\/\/\/
One day I encountered an odd occurance in a littered old West Baltimore lot. I found what I believe to be the fabled Rat Graveyard of urban legend. Crowded in a space of about 8 feet square were 8 rat carcasses, each in a different state of decomposition. Also found in the space was a strange gelatinous blob that smelled and looked a mass of animal fat. The blob was roughly the size of three full grown rats.
Each of these rats gathered here at the moment of their deaths, weeks apart from one another! The fact that they're all large adult rats seems to rule out the possibillity of a dog or cat assemblying them; for if this were the case I might have found some junior rodents as well. These eight rats, sensing the immediate end of their lives must have made a final journey to die in this lot.
It is unclear what force compelled them to choose this otherwise very common zone in the hood. Perhaps the first to end up here was a Rat of distinction, one that even in death held a respect amoung his furry kin. The others, maybe out of duty, followed that rat in death as they followed it in life.
However, the gelatinous blob suggests a far more mysterious phenomenon at hand. Could the blob be summoning the rats to their deaths?
